Regina McDonald also known to friends and family as Gina is the artist behind Chrysalis Designs.
She currently resides in Chattahoochee, Florida with her husband, Larry in a small house outside of Chattahoochee surrounded by woods and wildlife.  She has 3 daughters; Kaley, Summer and Meredith and two precious Grand-daughters, Rabon and Kourtney.  Her Mother Billie lives in Marianna and her Sister Cheri lives in the Inwood community near Grand Ridge; she also has a brother Brian who lives in Panama City, Florida.   In her everyday 9 to 5 working life she works as a purchasing specialist and she also works with State Emergency Response in ESF-7 (Logistics) on a volunteer basis.

She started making jewelry some time ago when she was a Large Sized woman and had real problems buying anything off the shelf.  Over time the necessity to make jewelry became a lot more, she found that she had a real knack for designing, a good eye for color and a real talent for the technicality of the process and that she loved it! All of those things shine through in her work.  She loves working with semi-precious gemstones, Swarvoski ™ crystal, Czech beads, sterling silver, copper, polymer clay, glass and many other mediums.  When asked where her talent comes from, she is quick to answer that "There is only one I can give the credit to and that blessing comes from God."

Gina has been recognized by her peers in several online features and her work has been featured on the front page of one of her selling venues several times and in 2009 one of her wire-wrapped pieces; "Seriously Blue x2"  was featured in the online magazines Destination Weddings.com and she has been featured at Openzine at TheGiftshopHandmade.  In October of 2009 three of her pieces were shown at the LeMoyne Gallery in Tallahasse, Florida; "Sedona", one of her polymer clay designs, "Rise Above", a big, bold copper wire-wrapped bracelet and her "TAISI Green" which is another wire-wrapped piece.  She also participated in a nationwide contest for jewelry artists and designers at www.Narvla.com and placed well enough to be invited to sell on the Narvla.com site in the handmade artists section.

Gina finds that Inspiration comes in all kinds of things; nature, color, and shapes, but she says that when she is buying beads, gemstones, metals and tools, there is a picture that just pops into her head and once it is there, it is stuck there until she makes it a reality and sometimes that can be a daunting task!  Custom work is something that she really enjoys and she loves the challenge of designing that special one of a kind piece for her customers!  She has done several very special wedding pieces and of course she also enjoys gifting her pieces to her friends and family.

Ms. McDonald is an avid supporter of REFUGE HOUSE, an organization who serves battered women and their children and victims of sexual violence. She herself is a survivor of domestic violence. She designs and makes a special line of jewelry (T.A.I.S.I.) that specifically benefits this worthwhile organization.  Forty percent of the proceeds (soon to be 50% as soon as she is finished revamping the line)  from the sale of these pieces is donated to the REFUGE HOUSE so that they can continue to serve the entire "Big Bend" area of Florida.  She also is happy to donate her work and her time to other charitable organizations and has made a donation to Covenant Hospice for their Gala for the last 2 years and will likely be donating for the Gala again this year.  She also helped out Partners for Pets last year and will be happy to help again!  She is also more than happy to give her time and skills to any charitable organization to teach a class and donate the proceeds from the tuition generated or donate a piece for an auction or raffle.  As she puts it, “I am truly and richly blessed and believe in giving back to the community in any way that I can.”
